Returners

As a trained teacher, who is currently "resting", you are an important resource for Hertfordshire Schools. If you are a qualified teacher, considering teaching again but are daunted by the prospect of things having changed since you were last in the classroom, help and support is at hand.

The School Workforce Development Team runs a club, returners' courses and an annual conference for Returners. For further details please see the hertsdirect.org/teachinherts website:

Returners Club

As part of our continued support to teachers in Hertfordshire, we offer training and updates to Returner Teachers through our Returners Club. The Club meets every Monday during term-time between 12.30 and 2.00 pm at Hertfordshire Development Centre. Many of the sessions run are duplications of the Supply Club, which runs from4.30 to 6.00pm. If it is more convenient to attend the later session, or mix and match according to your diary, you are welcome to do so.

There is a programme of talks, workshops and practical sessions covering a range of topics from national curriculum updates, behaviour management, contractual details for teachers and advice on subject updates. For further details, please see programme on the hertsdirect.org/teachinherts website:

In addition to the sessions themselves, the club offers:

Two free courses a year from the CPD Portfolio, use of the centre library and resource centre, your own copies of many of the other education publications, advice on pay and conditions, help with CVs, applications and interviews.
