Site staff play an important role in schools ensuring that the environment is clean, safe and tidy and that meals are available at lunchtime.

Cleaning staff

Cleaning staff work either on their own or in a team, ensuring that the school premises are clean and hygienic.

Catering staff/kitchen assistants

Catering staff help prepare and serve schools meals and clear up when lunchtime is over.

Cooks/catering managers

Cooks/catering managers plan the menu for school meals according to a fixed budget and supervise the work of catering staff.

Premises managers/caretakers
Premise managers/caretakers are responsible for the maintenance of the school building, ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed. They may also oversee the work of other site staff.

Caretaker Training Course


We regularly arrange certified training courses covering the following areas:

  1. Chemical competence
  2. Equipment safe use and care
  3. Storage of equipment
  4. Mop sweeping
  5. Single solution mopping
  6. Suction cleaning
  7. Spray cleaning/buffing
  8. Waste container clearance
  9. Bodily fluids and sharps
  10. Toilets (including wash hand basins, urinals and washroom furniture)

Courses will be carried out at the training centre in Sawbridgeworth and will take place over two days (lunch is provided) at a cost of £300.00
