IntroductionHLTAs are experienced teaching assistants who plan and deliver learning activities under the direction of a teacher and assess, record and report on pupils' progress. They may also manage other classroom-based staff or may supervise a class in a teacher's absence. Approximately half the schools in Hertfordshire benefit from the increased capacity that an HLTA brings. "Although HLTA is a status rather than a qualification, HLTAs are seen as having skills and knowledge that represent a progression from the level 3 qualifications." Training and Development Agency for Schools Higher Level Teaching Assistant status (HLTA) is highly recommended for anyone who may be taking on specified work – planning and delivering lessons in one area of the timetable. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status enables you to receive formal recognition for the skills, knowledge and experience you have gained. What do I get out of it?
