What can you and your school do to support this highly skilled Teaching Assistant?

  1. Consider how the role fits into your school's structure and approach to staffing. This can help to ensure the HLTA's effectiveness and impact.
  2. Through consultation, invite HLTA's to carry out activities in areas where they have or wish to develop expertise. Could the HLTA take on a specific area of responsibility?
  3. Raise awareness of the HLTA role among staff, parents and govenors. This will improve the undersanding of the role and the potential benefits for the school.
  4. Consider how HLTAs and TAs can be best supported and developed. This will enable to the school to get the best from its staff and allow them to develop their skills.
