Hertfordshire Well-Being Programme for SchoolsOver 100 schools have now joined the Hertfordshire Well-Being programme. Do you want your school to be one of them? Well-Being recognises that every school, whatever the challenges, has the potential to be a creative and motivating place in which to teach, work and learn. The programme supports the whole staff in their school in creating a healthier workplace. It focuses on the development of healthy organisations not singled-out individuals. It is about improving the culture of the workplace and working practices, based on collective problem-solving. There are close links between this self-review programme and existing initiatives such as Healthy Schools and Investors in People. This is an extremely cost effective way of investing in your most precious asset. The earlier pilot based in Norfolk has been externally and independently audited. This found that recruitment to schools was assisted by the scheme, and that employees in the county gained a more positive appreciation of their places of work, of colleagues and management. They also reported that staff absence was reduced. The scheme will give you an annual, very detailed statistical review of the progress of Well Being in your school. You will have access to both national and Hertfordshire networks which offer training days, conferences to exchange ideas and individual support. Hertfordshire LEA will continue to support this scheme financially as it promotes staff retention in schools. The school contribution will remain unchanged for the school year 06/07 at £200 registration fee and £10 per member of staff on payroll.
