Teachinherts Supply Service

In 2004, following consultation with teachers’ unions and professional associations, Hertfordshire set up the Teachinherts Supply Service. Eteach, which has extensive experience of running on-line LA supply services was the chosen partner. Eteach manages the service, taking calls from schools and supply teachers and making placements. They also arrange all the employment checks, including Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), Health, General Teaching Council (GTC) and qualifications checks.

How does it work?

  • One call to call centre to source teacher – new number – 0845 108 1725
  • Quick, knowledgable and professional response to request
  • No temporary to permanent fees if a school wishes to employ a supply teacher on a permanent basis provided that they have used the supply service for a minimum of 20 days
  • Improved quality and quantity of experienced supply teachers on the database as supply teachers realise that they will get more regular work – screened to LEA standards, with feedback from schools
  • Fair and reasonable fees to schools (see below) – Fair pay for Teachers (paid to scale)
  • Less admin for schools. Teachers are put on the HCC payroll by teachinherts at registration. Schools just complete timesheets and fees are collected by journal transfer – no invoices to pay.
  • Photo identification cards and confirmation email with photo of supply teacher.

Fees for using Teachinherts Supply Service

Schools pay Teachers their daily rate to scale via the CSF HR payroll. This is a fair deal for teachers and is endorsed by unions.

Daily Fee payable:

£23 per day (breakdown as follows):

  • £20 to eteach for use of call centre, web-based technology, promotion of service, screening of teachers
  • £0.50 to LA to cover costs of setting up on payroll, issuing contracts and dealing with grievance and disciplinary issues
  • £2.50 to LA as an "insurance" cost against claims for sickness benefit, maternity/paternity/adoption leave and any legal issues (which could be substantial).

If you have any queries at all about the changes to your service or require any help in using the new system, please contact Teachinherts Supply Service on 0845 108 1725 or email supply@teachinherts.com.

Please also pass the news onto teachers who are teaching on supply to encourage them to join the scheme. They will want to join!
