Who are the Safe Staffing Team?
The Herts Safe Staffing team is responsible for dispensing advice and verification of employee background checks. They provide HR consultancy and expert guidance for: Vetting & Barring Scheme, Disclosure and Barring Checks, Schools Single Central Record’s and Immigration.
What do they do?
They carry out checks for HCC employees as well as other organisations, including extended schools services and voluntary organisations. The team will work closely with the Business Partner team providing advice & guidance on traces.
Disclosure and Barring Service December 2012
From 1st December 2012, the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) merged with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) to form the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) and new disclosure certificates received by the Council will be branded DBS.
From 12 November 2012, the DBS are introducing a new application form to replace the CRB application form. The new form marks unused fields so they cannot be used. You can continue to use the existing CRB application forms alongside the new DBS forms until 28th February 2013, after which, only the new forms will be accepted by the DBS.
The Safe Staffing Team is reviewing relevant policies, guidance and forms to reflect the change. A sample of the new form can be found at:
