Work Experience -
Policy and Guidance for Schools

The responsibility for arranging work experience placements was delegated to governing bodies in April 1999, following consultation with schools.

Both the LEA and Schools have a range of legal responsibilities in relation to the organisation and delivery of work experience. The purpose of this document is to set out more fully the respective responsibilities of the LEA and schools for the provision of work experience for the young people in Hertfordshire.

The guidelines and policy set out in this document are concerned with the organisation and health and safety requirements of all work experience programmes for all age groups of students organised by LEA educational establishments maintained by Hertfordshire County Council. When changes occur, all LEA establishments to which they apply will be issued with updated guidance.
