Promoting excellent inclusive practice in Hertfordshire

The SEND/AG&T team provides consultancy and support to ensure high quality inclusive provision in schools and other settings through monitoring, challenging and intervention strategies.

A key aspect of the team’s role is providing training and consultancy to support the self evaluation and strategic planning of inclusive provision, particularly in relation to special educational needs and disabilities and gifted and talented provision. It supports local networks of schools with briefings for SEND AG&T to disseminate good practice and provide training for school staff.

The SEND / Able Gifted and Talented team offers a range of consultancy support tailored to the needs of schools:


School leaders
  • Helping leaders to be confident that self evaluation is robust for pupils with disabilities and /or SEN
  • Preparation for Ofsted - health checks on disability, SEN and inclusion
  • Tailored whole school review of inclusion with feedback to SLT
  • Developing confident leaders of inclusion of pupils through coaching
  • Mapping provision for vulnerable learners aligned to whole school systems
  • Monitoring impact of teaching assistants in the classroom
  • Statutory disability equality requirements - making sure you are compliant and making a difference
  • Accessing pupil voice – removing barriers to communication and language
  • Action research projects on improving outcomes for pupils who may be vulnerable in their learning
