First Steps to Becoming an Effective SENCo/INCo - Primary and Secondary new

This one day course will provide an overview of national and local guidance and developments within the context of Inclusion and SEN and highlight implications for the role. There will be a variety of inputs and activities that will include practical materials to use in school. Guidance notes and information will be available to support participants. Feedback from previous delegates: ' Excellent! Developing Effective Monitoring and Evaluation Skills for SENCos/INCOS new

This one day course will help SENCOs/INCOs to become more effective at monitoring and evaluation. It will enable  you to make informed judgements about provision, practice and progress, in order to promote  the five outcomes of ECM for children and young people with SEN/LDD. It will consider how the SENCo/INCo might develop monitoring and evaluation within whole school processes and systems.  It will provide  information and guidance on monitoring and evaluation, with opportunities to use your own school data, both quantatitive and qualitative to evaluate provision for pupils with SEN/LDD in your school. The course will develop the confidence and skills of SENCos/INCos to carry out this important aspect of their role.

What do I need to know about Disability Discrimination new

This half day course will help all support staff to know their responsibilities under disability discrimination legistration and be able to make reasonable adjustments. By attending this course participants will gain:

  • understanding of the definition of disability
  • understanding of how to make reasonable adjustments
  • understandingof how to put this into practice

 

Developing the role of the Able, Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator in the primary school new

This one day course is for new and established able, gifted and talented co-ordinators in primary schools and is also suitable for headteachers and senior leaders with a responsibility for and overview of this area. By attending this course you will:

  • understand your role and responsibilities as the Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator in the school and how this links with the Leading Teacher role
  • gain information about developing and extending a whole school gifted and talented policy
  • become aware of how your school can utilise a range of resources and structures to take gifted and talented education forward both inside and outside the classroom - for example, using the new Quality Standards and the NACE Challenge Award
  • explore suggestions and ideas as to how schools can effectively work together in partnership or clusters to more effectively deliver high class gifted and talented teaching
  • develop an understanding of how your role can help to enhance personalised learning and creative teaching and learning across the school
  • look at new and radical ways to take gifted and talented provision forward in new and exciting directions

Hertfordshire Philosophy for Children (P4C) Conference new

The first Hertfordshire conference on Philopsophy for Children (P4C) will explore what P4C is, how it works within schools and classrooms and how, sa an excellent and renowned example of effective provision, it can benefit a range of different students, including vulnerable groups. Dr. Barry Hymer, an inspirational and nationally renowned keynote speaker will address the conference and there will be a series of themed workshops. The aims of the conference are to:

  • understand what P4C is and how it can work in schools
  • appreciate how P4C can have a powerful and transforming impact on teaching and learning
  • explore how P4C can apply to different subjects and themed areas of the curriculum
  • gather a range of suitable and useful resource materials
  • establish a Hertfordshire P4C network
