P Scales

P Scales are differentiated performance criteria. They outline attainment for pupils working below level 1 of the National Curriculum. There are P Scales for each subject in the National Curriculum. The P Scales use eight performance levels:

Levels P1 to P3 show the earliest levels of general attainment with subject focused examples.

Levels P4 to P8 show subject related attainment.

Understanding and Using Data

The effective use of data allows schools to analyse, improve and celebrate pupils' progress and to improve teaching and learning for all. It supports the strategic management of inclusion and personalised learning. Data can be used to help identify individuals and/or groups of pupils at risk of underachievement, improve teaching and learning, review and target effective provision and celebrate achievement. When analysing data schools should be asking:

How well are we doing?

How do we compare with similiar schools?

How well should we be doing?

What more can we aim to achieve?
