Study of Sex & Relationships Education in Hertfordshire

For Pupils in Secondary Special SchoolsFor Pupils in Secondary Special Schools

Visits were made to four special schools, providing for pupils who have emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) or severe learning difficulties (SLD). Seven staff members and 25 pupils were interviewed. The pupils responded very positively in the interviews and according to their different strengths were able to comment encouragingly on their own school’s SRE provision.

The pupils who have SLD were able to recall lessons they had enjoyed. The pupils who have EBD were able to reflect in some greater depth and showed a keen interest in the subject. The pupils all gave the impression that they felt motivated to learn more about this subject.
