Intended learning outcomes:

  • An increased knowledge of the role of bystanders in bullying situations
  • An understanding of techniques to enable young people to safely intervene in a bullying situation
  • An increased awareness of sources of support available to young people who witness bullying or who are being bullied

Latest Anti-bullying Guidance

The latest Anti-bullying Guidance produced by the Behaviour and Achievement Strategy team is held on the Hertfordshire Anti-bullying web site and includes policiy writing, lessons etc including their latest CD-rom.

Circle Time Lesson - 'Understanding Bullying as an attack on difference'

The Hertfordshire Traveller Education Service circle time lesson on ‘understanding bullying as an attack on difference’.

This lesson has been used with year 5 and 6 children through to students at the top end of KS3.

The lesson aims to promote understanding in young people that they have a right to be proud of their unique qualities.

It is ideal for use during Anti-Bullying week in November.

Anti-Bullying pack for schools - from DfES

The DfES issued Bullying, an anti-bullying pack in December 2000 and sent it to all schools. Entitled Bullying: Don't suffer in silence this document unambiguously explains why schools should be concerned about bullying, what they can do to prevent it and how to respond when it does occur.

Don't suffer in silence was re-issed in 2002 and is currently being reviewed and the updated version should be published later this year. update 28 June 2006
