Communication, Language & Literacy Development (CLLD):

Improving Early Literacy

The programme aims to support schools in implementing the key messages from the Rose Review (early literacy subject knowledge, systematic daily teaching, centrality of Speaking and Listening, planning rooted in assessment, application within reading, writing and across the curriculum).

It also focuses upon ensuring phonic acquisition tracking systems are in place and used consistently across FS and KS1 to monitor progress. Links between phonic acquisition and early reading & writing is made explicit through assessment, planning and teaching. Impact on attainment in relation to PWS steps and reading & writing (FSP scores; NC levels) is evaluated.
