Transition & Transfer

This is one of the priorities of the Strategy and the suggested focus is on Curriculum Continuity which is described as:

  • knowing which topics have already been covered
  • knowing what skills and understandings have been well established
  • knowing the pace and style of previous lessons in the subject
  • using this knowledge to launch pupils’ secondary education in a way that will reassure them, challenge them and take them forward rapidly

A reminder of materials available for Transition in maths:

All DfES resources are available from the standards website:

The Leading Maths Teachers focused on Transition at our last meeting on 17th July 2006.  They will be organising meetings with some of their feeder schools over the next academic year and we shall share ideas, agendas and resources with you soon.
