The Reddings Primary & Nursery School
Using Nintendo DS Handheld Gaming Devices in Year 6.
During the Spring term 2010 The Reddings Primary and Nursery School in Hemel Hempstead ran a project in Year 6 using Nintendo DS gaming consoles, together with brain training software: More Brain Training by Dr. Kawashima: How Old Is Your Brain?
Across a 9 week period the children carried out 10 to 15 minutes of mental cognition exercises using the games, and their “brain age” score was recorded on a weekly basis. More... |

St Mary’s Junior School
St Mary’s Junior School has 15 Year 6 pupils involved in the Hertfordshire One to One Tuition pilot. Their tuition sessions take place outside of the school day, and the school has also arranged for some tutoring to take place in the school holidays. Tutors were sourced from within the existing staff team, as well as through an external supply agency.

Laurance Haines School
Laurance Haines Primary School had an allocation of 15 pupils from Years 5 and 6 in the Hertfordshire One to One Tuition pilot. Most tuition takes place on a Saturday morning, and all of the tutors are either existing members of staff or are known to the school.

The Greneway Middle School
The Greneway School had an allocation of 36 tuition places in the Hertfordshire One to One Tuition pilot. They chose to schedule tuition sessions during the school day on a rotating timetable and used three known supply teachers as tutors. The tuition is currently co-ordinated by the Leader of Mathematics.
