These visiting ensemblescombine the panache and excitement that superb instrumentalists bring to live performances, combined with the ability to communicate and deliver an exhilarating and informative experience. All members of the ensembles are highly experienced teachers and performers. When can it happen? Tuesday mornings Who is it for? Reception to Year 13! Key Stages 2Option 1 Option 2 Secondary How else could I use Live Music in Schools? We can enrich the musical experience of your pupils in many ways.
*The format of this concert can be tailored to your requirements; you may prefer 2 concerts, one for KS1 and one for KS2. Alternatively you may wish there to be a second workshop instead of a concert. We will work with you to tailor our visit to meet your needs **a follow up visit by an instrumental teacher and Area Manager for a specific taster session can be arranged to happen shortly after the ensemble's visit What ensembles are available?Hertfordshire String AppealA quartet made up of 2 violins, viola and cello. They play all sorts of music from Mozart to the Macarena. As well as their KS1 & 2 work, this ensemble has considerable experience working with GCSE & A level students on their compositions for strings. Hertfordshire Woodwind QuartetThis Quartet combines flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon; saxophone is also demonstrated. An Introduction to this family of instruments is delivered through a combination of participatory activities, demonstrations and fun! Hertfordshire Brass QuintetThis Quintet consists of two trumpets, a french horn, a trombone and a tuba. They show how all brass instruments make their distinctive sound using, amongst other things - hosepipes! Hertfordshire Samba WorkshopA teacher arrives at your school with thirty assorted Samba instruments and work with 2 groups of 30 children producing their very own sambas! Ideal for Year 5 right up to secondary level. Hertfordshire Djembe Workshop (Only Wednesday Mornings)Djembes are African Drums. A teacher will arrive at your school with 30 Djembes and work with 2 groups of up to 30 children to create authentic African Music. These workshops are designed for Year 5 to secondary level. Hertfordshire Jazz Quartetsaxophone, Piano, Bass and Drums will lead and inspire your pupils towards discovering their creative talents. Workshops will emphasise pathways into improvisation. Recital programmes will include a wide variety of rhythmic music. Hertfordshire Percussion WorkshopThe morning will start with a short demonstration to the whole school of a variety of percussion instruments being played together, using volunteers from the audience. This is followed by 2 workshops for 15 students each, which will involve an introduction to the instruments and their role within the orchestra. How much does it cost?The cost for a Live Music in Schools visit is £130. There is no additional charge if you are having a follow up taster session to encourage instrumental teaching.
