HYJE will meet for a 3 day course in the summer
holidays, for Repertoire Days each term and will also
perform in the Gala at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Hertfordshire Youth Jazz Ensemble works both in
full and small ensembles (combos), exploring the many
sides of jazz including Rock and more Contemporary
collaborations. Tuition is provided in all aspects of jazz
performance including vocal coaching and improvisation.
Recent highlights have included visiting the North Sea
Jazz Festival and a joint course with the HSSO in 2005
with Django Bates and his quartet, Human Chain.
HYJE recorded their first CD in Spring 2006 and are
now looking ahead to their summer course which is to
be led by Mark Lockhart.
