How the auditions work
We hope very much that you will want to get involved with one or more of our County Groups. You can be nominated for an audition by either your instrumental teacher or head of music. Or you can apply direct but we would suggest that you should talk things over with your teacher first.
In either case, fill in the Application Form in the brochure and return to:

Your application will be acknowledged and we will confirm a venue, date and time for your audition as soon as possible

Requirements for audition day
• Please arrive approximately 10-15 minutes before your audition time so that you can warm-up with the accompanist and look at the sight-reading.
• You should prepare two short and contrasting pieces to demonstrate your musicianship and technique. Aim for no more than 5 minutes per piece
• Strings – a single piece with contrasts within it would be fine
• Think about your choice of pieces.
• If your piece overruns we’ll have to stop you – don’t worry, but if there is a bit you really want us to hear, make sure you get to it within the timeslot!
• All auditionees should use the accompanist provided.
Why? How you communicate with someone new to you is part of the audition.
• Results of auditions will be made available as soon after the auditions as possible. back to top
