As part of the Song Competition 2009 The Mix Song-writing team will explain how to bpeople playing instrumentslend harmony, rhythm and melody to build your own songs.  We’ll also talk about how to write lyrics.  The day will finish with a performance, which will be recorded and returned to you on CD. All singers and instrumentalists aged 10+ are welcome.

The workshops will take place on the following dates:

June 30th – Stevenage Music & Arts Centre

July 2nd – Mid Herts Music & Arts Centre, Hatfield

July 8th – St Albans Music School

The workshop will start at 9.30 am but participants are asked to arrive from 9.15 am in order that the group is settled for a prompt start.  Parents and Carers are invited to an informal concert of the day’s music beginning at 2.30 pm.  The concert will be recorded and returned to participants on CD.  The day will finish at 3.00 pm.

Lunch

It is essential that everyone bring a packed lunch with drinks for the day.  Pupils will not be allowed off site.

What To Bring

Players may bring their own instruments but drum-kits and amps will be provided.  The County Council does not accept any responsibility for privately owned instruments. Do come dressed in casual clothes, which are appropriate for playing your instrument and for the time of year.

Course Fee

There is a charge of £10.00 for the day, which is needed to provide the CDs and to cover the tuition and administration costs.  We would wish that no child should be disadvantaged by not being able to pay the fee.
