Training & CPD

The Standards and School Effectiveness Division provides a wide variety of support to schools. This can be in the form of consultancy, CPD courses or other forms of training. This page outlines some of the ways in which support can be provided within the subject of Geography Education at each of the different key stages. Advisers and consultants are always developing new courses and additional forms of support, so please feel free to make contact to discuss any precise training or CPD requirements that you have.

Key Stage 1 & 2

Do you need help to Develop the Teaching and Learning of Geography in your Primary School?

In addition to organising and running courses for all key stages at HDC and supporting NQTs, I also come into schools to run CPD with staff and also can run the Trade Game.

Staff training could be a full or half day or maybe a twilight staff meeting session. I can focus on:

  • general Geography skills and ideas
  • ideas for making the QCA work more stimulating to the pupils
  • ideas for branching away from QCA
  • looking at new resources
  • boosting confidence of teaching the subject for non- specialist staff
  • or something more geared to your schools’ particular needs

The costs for my time is charged in accordance with the Standard County consultancy rate.

If you would like to contact me to discuss the possibility of me running training or the Trade Game at your school, please call my secretary, Margaret Parker
