'Every Child ....' Programmes
The ‘Every Child’ Programmes – ensuring every child receives their entitlement to life chances
The 'Every Child' programmes have a shared set of values and aims, to provide schools with access to experienced and highly trained subject specialists in Literacy or Mathematics, who will tailor provision for those who need it most and also further develop and monitor layered interventions in school. Evidence shows that the cases of greatest need should be catered for with the greatest expertise, if gaps are to be narrowed by sufficiently accelerated progress (75% attain 4x the rate of progress of the average learner).
The programmes train their subject specialists to use diagnostic assessments when identifying where and when to intervene, and to ensure that children learn sustainable thinking skills that 'wrap-around' any curriculum, as international evidence shows. These 1:1 teachers are therefore not only Wave 3 tutors, but also early intervention specialists, CPD coaches, Wave 1 experts, AfL Leads, Family Liaison experts and hold huge potential for whole-school self-improvement of teaching and learning.
