It’s all about reading!

Welcome to the inaugural Primary Literacy newsletter. We will be writing a regular newsletter to update and inform you about developments in primary literacy. Inside you will find a range of good ideas and resources to help you develop your teaching practice.

We welcome your feedback about content. So do get in touch if you have ideas and good practice to share or have suggestions for further issues.

Our theme this term reflects Ofsted’s increased focus on reading and inside, you will find a variety of recent research, resources and ideas aimed at supporting you to develop this crucial area of learning.

These include:

  • Case studies of outstanding practice as judged under the current Ofsted framework
  • Year 1 phonic screening - your questions answered
  • Thoughts on renewing the range of books you draw on Professional reading for personal developmentf ongoing teaching and interventions.
