Heads of Art and Art Co-ordinators - A note for Diary
An Exhibition of Newly Purchased and Restored Work from the Schools County Art Loan Collection New
The County Art Collection moved from Wheathampstead late last year to join the Schools Library Service at New Barnfield, Hatfield.
Since then we have been working to improve and update the collection. Many old favourites have been cleaned, restored and re-framed. In addition new material has been added, reflecting users’ comments about material they would like to see, have been added to the collection.
The whole collection has been re-photographed digitally and these images will be used on the improved website. Some images will also form the basis of a new colour catalogue for schools. The new catalogue will be launched at this event.
You are invited to attend the exhibition and catalogue launch on Tuesday 23rd September 12.15-2pm.
Refreshments will be served. Please can you let Diane Knapman know if you would like to attend the event, her contact details are tel: 01707 281424 or email: diane.knapman@hertscc.gov.uk.

Information
The County Art Collection operates as a loan service for Hertfordshire
schools. All schools in Hertfordshire are eligible to use the Collection
with the exception of privately run schools. There is no charge
to schools wishing to use the service.
There are approximately 1500 items in the Collection comprising
not only paintings, but also original prints, textiles, sculptures,
ceramics and glass. The collection is used for its educational value, offering children
the opportunity, often for the first time, to have experience of
original works of art made by professional artists and craftsmen.
It offers teachers the opportunity to use art in the classroom
as a teaching aid: as support material with projects; for the understanding
and evaluating of art and for developing pupils' abilities to observe,
think and articulate. This is in accordance with the requirements
of the National Curriculum. Searching for items You may request up to six items (but no more than three 3-dimensional
items), for a loan period of up to twelve school weeks. On the search page, you may search for any items available for
loan, or by specific title/artist/medium or subject.
