2005 Hertfordshire Schools' County Dance Festival
The
Hertfordshire Schools' County Dance Festival presented two completely
different programmes over two days, with a record 39 Primary, Secondary
and Special schools participating
at the Alban Arena, St.Albans, on 8th and 9th March 2005.
More than 650 pupils from all over Hertfordshire stepped into the
spotlight to celebrate their achievements in dance at this major County
event.
‘Our Heroes and Heroines’ proved to be a magnificent celebration
of dance achievement in our Hertfordshire schools, with inspiration
for the choreography derived from fictional super heroes like Spiderman
to real life stories of bravery and courage.
The standard of the performances was outstanding and is testimony
to the power of dance as an art form and to its value within education.
This biennial festival is an entirely non-competitive event which
is the result of collaboration between Hertfordshire’s County
Dance Teachers’ Association and Clare Mellish, County Adviser
for Dance.
A special feature of the evening was a performance given by ‘InPulse’ – Hertfordshire’s
Youth Dance Company (14-19). They presented ‘Adventure Calling’ a
zany piece choreographed by Hayley Arthur (Artistic Director) which
illustrated the enormous talent nurtured within the company.
