EBD & Alternative KS4 ProvisionExpansion of Special School PlacesThe Behaviour and Achievement Strategy proposes an expansion of special school provision for children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulty Statements in relation to increased demand in the area. Eight additional places have been funded in the primary sector and 20 additional places have been funded in the secondary sector. The expansion aims to enable the provision of more appropriate learning environments for young people with EBD statements across the county. This increase in specialist provision is intended to complement the preventative initiatives also supported by the Behaviour and Achievement Strategy. Alternative KS4 Curriculum Provision in HertfordshireThe Children Schools and Families service are supporting the development of a range of alternative and appropriate Key Stage 4 provision for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in Hertfordshire. The Behaviour and Achievement Strategy is working to help ensure that there is a co-ordinated and effective range of provision in place and that it is accessible for those young people who need it. The Children, Schools and Family service is currently using alternative curriculum provision engaging young people through the use of accredited learning opportunities in a variety of fields including the use of vocational education and e-learning opportunities. We are working in partnership with special schools, colleges and independent training providers in order to best achieve a diverse and meaningful curriculum provision for 14 – 16 year olds in Hertfordshire. |
