Overview

In recognition of the need to support schools in helping children and young people to manage often inappropriate and challenging behaviour, the size and remit of the BST has been increased.

All schools and CSF front line case workers will now be able to access the resources of the BST for children up to the age of 19.

Each BST will include and work jointly with staff from the following disciplines:

  • Educational Psychology (EP)
  • Advisory /Behaviour Support Teachers
  • Child Adolescent and Mental Health (CAMHS)
  • Special Needs officers
  • Family workers from CSF
  • Reintegration officers
  • ESCs
  • Primary extended role
  • Student Services

The wide ranging professional expertise available to the BST will help ensure that each referral, either pupil focused or school based, will receive the most appropriate and effective form of support.

School based interventions can be complimented by direct work with the family, helping to ensure a consistent approach to managing the child’s behaviour.

All core members of the BST will offer a range of services to children, schools, families and other professional groups. These will include:

  • A consultation service
  • Individual pupil focused work
  • INSET and training
  • Systemic work
  • Facilitate and run parent/carer groups as appropriate

All BST staff will work collaboratively with other CSF staff/voluntary agencies.
