Review of Art & Design Work in 2007
As Art & Design Co-ordinator for this village school, at the outset of any Topic, I always strive to organise visits or visitors to act as a springboard to energise and stimulate both pupils and teachers interest. Of course, for these to be successful, there is always a lot of planning to be done, but I find that this extra effort pays huge dividends in the end. Nothing beats the first-hand experience of going, doing, making etc. The resulting conversations, discussions, planning, artwork itself and associated writing, teamwork, mean so much more when the children are actively involved. The whole effect results in the children having experiences and developing skills, which hopefully will stay with them for many years.
