Team / Contacts

The 14-19 Team has recently expanded and we are delighted to have acquired two new 14-19 Advisers with a broad range of knowledge and expertise in the area of 14-19 education and training.

Eileen Gordon leads the team which will be offering a wide range of CPD to support schools’ development of the 14-19 curriculum changes. We also respond to specific requests from individual schools. We will be offering curriculum analysis and development, training on vocational courses, advice and support regarding the on-line prospectus, in depth advice about the work related curriculum, alternative curriculum content, new developments eg the Extended Project, Foundation Learning Tier. We will also be developing networks for curriculum managers, Heads of Sixth Form.

Eileen joined Hertfordshire in September 2006 before which she was Chief Executive of the Learning Warehouse in Bedfordshire, a vocational centre in Bedfordshire which was also a 14-19 Pathfinder. Eileen has been in secondary education for over 30 years and has held a variety of senior roles such as Head of Sixth, Deputy Headteacher and Acting Headteacher. She has worked as a consultant for LSN and been involved in initiatives and projects ranging from writing proposals for modern languages KS2 to a leadership development programme for the secondary sector in Bedfordshire.

Prior to her appointment to CSF, Juliet worked for the Local Government Association for 5 years where she worked on the Spending Review, Local Public Service Agreements, Comprehensive Performance Assessment and Extended Schools.  In addition to this she has worked for the National Union of Teachers.  Juliet is a qualified teacher and worked in Hertfordshire for 5 years.  Juliet’s current work is focused on 14-19 Curriculum and Qualifications and data analysis and management and in particular the development of the Hertfordshire 14-19 Prospectus.

Mary joined the standard and school effectiveness Team in January 2006 from the Hertfordshire Careers Service where she was a senior manager. For nearly four years Mary was the Consortium Director for Herts b2e and prior to that was county Adviser for Careers Education for seven years. Although trained originally to teach Art in primary schools, Mary’s teaching experience was in teaching Business and Administration, Careers education, Work Related Learning and education business links in a Hertfordshire secondary school. She has also worked part time in further education and training a sales team in an international company.

Kay has worked in Secondary School Education for 16 years. In this time she has led the delivery of courses including Economics, Business and Sociology. Kay has also coordinated the provision of a wide range of vocational education including BTEC, GNVQ AVCE and Applied courses and delivered assessor training relating to these. More recently she has worked as part of a Senior Leadership Team on whole school initiatives including Performance Management and Learning and Teaching themes, for which she has delivered CPD.

Nicola spent most of her teaching years in London schools delivering Religious Education at Key Stage Four and AS/A Level Sociology, Psychology and BTEC Health and Social Care at Key Stage five. Until December 2006, she was an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for inclusion, work-related learning, vocational and enterprise education and Key Stage four/five transition. Nicola has experience of working within the 14-19 sector in Hampshire and Bedfordshire before joining the team here in Hertfordshire at the start of the Spring term in January 2009. She has a particular interest within the team on developing student voice and all aspects of Diploma delivery.
