NewsletterSummer 2009Welcome to the summer edition of the 14-19 newsletter. Back in April the Diploma Gateway 3 results were announced and once again Hertfordshire did extremely well. Nationally the percentage of applications to succeed at grade 1 or 2 is 58% whereas Hertfordshire have 80% and by 2011 we should have at least 55 Diplomas being offered to students across the whole of Hertfordshire. This number should rise once the Gateway 4 process has been undertaken. We would like to pass on our congratulations to all those involved with the Diploma submissions. There are a number of important 1 4 - 1 9 developments that we cover in this newsletter including the LSC Transition, Diploma Phase 4 Consultations and the Extended Project Qualification. In addition, we would encourage you to put the date of the 14-19 Annual Conference, (1st October) in your diary. We already have a number of excellent speakers lined up including from the DCSF and QCA and are conf ident that the conference will be informative and thought provoking. Eileen Gordon

The recently 14-19 Delivery January newsletter gives notice of changes to the Gateway categories. This year there will be three Gateway categories; the fourth category (reapply) will no longer exist. This means that consortia which have not met the conditions (and would previously have had to reapply) have a further 12 months to develop their proposals before a review to decide whether they proceed to 2011 delivery. This recognises the need to progress towards the entitlement in 2013 and will ensure that consortia receive the right support and challenge to achieve this. The categories for this Gateway are as follows: Category 1- recommended for 2010 delivery with no conditions
