Heads of Post 16 meeting
The next Heads of Post 16 Network meeting will take place on Wednesday 15th October 2-4pm at the University of Hertfordshire, College Lane site.
The agenda includes:
- The Cambridge Pre U Qualification
- The importance of lesson observations as part of the SEF (an OFSTED perspective)
- Know the quality of teaching and learning in your post 16 lessons.

There will be further information on these changes throughout the coming throughout the coming year.
Ofsted proposals for maintained school inspections from September 2009 contain a section on ‘Defining accountability through inspection: coordinated inspections of federations and partnerships. David Jones HMI talked to Heads and Governors on 29th September and sampled views as to methodology of such inspections.
Ofsted Proposals for Maintained School Inspections
In September, David Jones, HMI, spoke at Sandringham School on the Ofsted proposals for maintained school inspections from September 2009. He focussed on the sections relating to partnership inspections.

Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator)
On 2 April 2008 Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children Schools and Families announced that the government intended to legislate to make Ofqual a separate statutory authority reporting directly to Parliament.
The first Chair will be Kathleen Tattersall OBE.
Ofqual will act as the independent guardian of standards across the qualifications, tests and exam system in England.
Ed Balls also announced that the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), to be known as the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA), will develop into an agency for developing curriculum, assessment and qualifications.
