Specialist Schools
Designation/Re-designation
Since September 2009, all specialist schools are required to re-designate through their SIP every three academic years, regardless of when their latest OFSTED inspection took place. The first cohort of specialist schools in Hertfordshire went through this process during the academic year 2009 – 2010. For this year:
- all specialist schools last designated or re-designated on 1 September 2008 will need to re-designate in the 2010/11 school year; and
- all specialist schools last designated or re-designated on 1 September 2009 will need to re-designate in the 2011/12 school year.
For those schools due to re-designate by July 2011, the summer term SIP day will be used for redesignation. For ‘light touch’ schools, additional SIP time will be allocated for this purpose. Additional support and guidance can be obtained from Andrew Clark, District School Effectiveness Adviser.
