Basic Safeguarding Awareness Training

Target Audience: All staff and adults working with children in the
school community (includes amongst others, volunteers, learning support assistants, midday supervisory assistants, administration staff, caretaker

Prerequisite training: N/A

Time: Varies with numbers attending, approx 2 hrs

Venue: At your school

Date/s: By agreement with your CPSLO

Aims: A clear understanding of

  • Gain understanding of what is meant by safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
  • Enable school staff to recognise and respond appropriately to concerns about a child
  • Raise awareness of the role of the Designated Senior Person (DSP)
  • Consider safe working practice for school staff

Note:

Training for all staff and adults working with children in the school community / educational establishment is a DCSF requirement (Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education 2002)

Training must be refreshed every three years.
