End of Key Stages & Foundation Stage
On this page are all the documents and templates required for schools to complete the statutory End of Key Stage returns using Assessment Manager 7 in SIMS. Please ensure that you download the resources applicable to your school’s phase.
Note: It is vital that the steps in ALL the documents are followed carefully and completely!
Any issues raised that will affect schools’ ability to complete these returns will be posted here, so please check this page before making your final submissions. Please also refer to the FAQ section at the back of each document before contacting the ICT Services Desk.
KS2 Test Results not importing via the CTF
If after importing the KS2 Test Results file from the NCA Tools website you may find that the Marksheet in the Wizard doesn’t contain those results. This will be due to your default CTF settings in SIMS. To resolve this, navigate to Tools > Setups > CTF and ensure that Assessment Data is ticked under Data to be Imported by Default. Then, import the KS2 file again and the results should now appear in the Marksheet.
Year 1 Phonics Comparative Report showing incorrect year
The Year 1 Phonics Comparative Report is showing 2016 instead of 2017 in the report heading. Schools will need to edit the header of each report to change the to the correct year. You can do this by double-clicking on the year and then changing the text to 2017.
Date range query on uploading CTF to NCA Tools website
It appears that there is an issue on the NCA Tools website, whereby you may receive a query regarding a number of children being outside of the date range expected for the 2017 return. All you need to do is tick the small box above the Submit button so that the CTF upload can continue. If there are any issues with the contents of the CTF, the website will advise you of such and provide information on what the errors relate to, e.g. missing child, invalid results, etc.
CTF Validation on P-Scales
We are aware that the CTF process in SIMS is not validating any P-Scale grades that are included or missing from the pupil records. Please ensure therefore that the steps in the documents are followed carefully, including a member of SLT checking the data on all the marksheets and authorising the return BEFORE the CTFs are created and submitted.
Recording Absent or Disapplied in the Phonics Screening Checks
Each year, the Data Collection & Business Information Team reports that several schools have recorded a Mark of zero for children that they have graded as either Absent or Disapplied. As per our guidance schools MUST NOT record a zero for these children, as when the threshold is added to the marksheets these children will be graded as Wt by the marksheet calculations. You will therefore need to ensure these zero marks are removed before the thresholds are entered w/c 26th June 2017. If you require help in deleting these marks, which cannot be removed by pressing the Delete key on the keyboard, then please contact the ICT Service Desk.
Missing Year 1 Phonics Data
It has been identified that Year 1 Phonics Screening Data is sometimes not being imported correctly from CTFs downloaded from the Key to Success website. Please follow the instructions in the Appendix of the document to entered these missing results manually.
Generating Individual Reports from SIMS
If you have problems generating reports, either with Word hanging, or with error messages being displayed, then this can usually be resolved by either rebooting or trying at another workstation.
Timetable for returning End of Key Stage data
*may be different if a pupil arrives and takes tests during that week (Phonics) or child moves during May (KS1)
Files for Download
