Schools' Capital Return - Interim Return required by 30th November 2012! 

Once again HCC requires schools to complete an Interim Capital Return as part of moving to quarterly closure of its accounts. This is for the following reasons:

• to assist in preparing accurate and timely reporting information for capital expenditure;
• to provide information to assist in the valuation of assets for HCC balance sheet
• to prevent a large amount of work at year end for HCC and schools, and to allow early investigation of any queries (as the Year End Return should be the interim data plus any movements since its return).

The layout of the Return has not changed since the Final Year End Return 2011/12. 

We shall also be requiring information on any disposals of assets (e.g. furniture, equipment, ICT equipment) the schools has made.  Further details will follow shortly.

Advice to Schools on Email Scams New

The Shared Internal Audit Service have issued advice to schools on financial email scams.

Scam email claiming to have come from Tesco's

We have recently been made aware of a scam email claiming to have come from Tesco Credit Card on-line Security Department. The email states that Tesco’s have been unable to process credit card payments, and asks the recipient to update their personal information by clicking on a link called, "planetapoete.com". This is not a valid Tesco site, and is a means of obtaining customer information for fraudulent purposes. Please do not click on this link or share the information requested.

Tesco’s Customer Services team is aware of this email and is asking customers who receive it to forward it to the email address below in order for them to monitor the situation.

Slom Solutions Ltd - Scam

We have been advised of a company sending bogus invoices to schools relating to charges for advertising through a web based directory. The following link directs you to an article released by Croydon Trading Standards, warning schools about this company:
