Schools’ Leases Data Collection (ICT, photocopiers and vehicles) - Reminder

In December the Council requested information from schools on IT, photocopier and vehicle leases held before 31st March 2009 as a requirement to comply with new international accounting standards.

The deadline for submission of this information has now passed. We require this information urgently and would ask schools who have not yet completed a return to do so by the end of Friday, 15th January 2010.

Schools are advised to call the FSS helpline (Secondary 01992 555753/Non-secondary 01992 555713) if they require advice on how to complete this questionnaire.

The questionnaire can be accessed through the SOLERO portal on the Grid website.

If you do not have any leases can you e-mail the FSS admin address fss.admin@hertscc.gov.uk stating this.

Schools' Capital Return - Interim Return now required by 17th February 2012 New

HCC will be moving to quarterly closure of its accounts which will include the closure of quarterly capital accounts. It is requested that schools complete an interim capital return for the following reasons:

  • to assist in quarterly closure
  • to assist in preparing accurate and timely reporting information for capital expenditure
  • to prevent a large amount of work at year end for HCC and Schools (as the year end return should be the interim data, plus any movements since its return)

Next year it is proposed that the capital return be ready for input in September to capture the first six months spend.

The layout of both returns has changed for the following reasons:

  • To collect information on project status and landlord consent
  • To collect information on a scheme by scheme basis, including how each scheme is financed
  • To enable HCC to record spend on the asset register on a project / asset basis, rather than one lump sum (Audit requirement)
