Wellbeing of Children and Young People

There is a mature Health and Wellbeing team working with Children and Young People in Hertfordshire, running the Healthy Schools Programme, and providing advice and support on a range of issues including emotional health and wellbeing, physical activity, healthy eating, anti-bullying  and integrated services.

The adviser for Staff Retention and Wellbeing is working closely with colleagues in the above team, so that wellbeing of all is embedded into the culture of schools supported by the local authority.

SEAL

The SEAL programme identifies five broad social and emotional aspects of learning.  There is an element of the SEAL programme for staff and the Hertfordshire Well-Being Programme complements this work.

The UK Penn Resilience Programme (UKPRP)

The UK Penn Resilience Programme is an evidenced based 18 week programme for 11-13 years olds that has been developed by University of Pennsylvania.

Hertfordshire along with Manchester and South Tyneside are part of a Local Well-Being project that aims to improve happiness and wellbeing. The project covers five main areas: emotional resilience for 11-13 year olds; wellbeing of older people; guaranteed apprenticeships; neighbourhoods and community empowerment; and parenting. New approaches are being tested in each of these five areas, measuring their impact; developing replicable methods; and looking at their cost effectiveness.
