No right turn into the Stevenage Campus car park from Monday 20 October 2008 Important
With effect from Monday 20 October, we are asking staff and visitors to observe a voluntary ‘no right turn’ into the site between 0800 and 1000 every day. This is following an approach by the Police and our neighbouring businesses who are concerned that, on busy mornings, traffic turning into our site is backing up into Six Hills Way and Gunnels Wood Road. This is causing congestion and a serious safety hazard to our own staff as well as other road users.
The alternative route will be to turn from Gunnels Wood Road into Bessemer Drive, Caxton Way, Six Hills Way and then turning left into the campus.
We will monitor the new arrangement for six weeks and if staff and visitors are still trying to turn right in the morning peak we will be looking at escalating to further measures to enforce it.
We expect that staff and visitors will understand the need for this change, and the benefits in road safety, and comply with this restriction.
