Teaching Assistants Events in Hertfordshire

TA Conference 2007

Nearly 300 teaching assistants attended the two TA Conferences in November 2007. Keynote address was from Rob Eastaway on "Creativity in Maths". Did you know that in a random group of 50 people it is almost certain that two of them will have the same birthday? It's a 50-50 chance in a group of 23! What Rob demonstrated was that there's a whole lot of real maths to be done, both in and out of the classroom.

Touring the workshops was great fun. There were TAs sitting on the floor doing Science, kneeling while extending pictures in Art. and putting their left, right and both hands up while saying the alphabet - backwards (10 things to do in 10 minutes).

The delegates in "Creative Use of Stop Motion Animation in the Classroom" were so clever! Within about 30 minutes, some of them had produced perfect films using only some props and a lump of plasticine. You can view these below. If your work of art is among them, please let Debra Parsall know so that we can publish your name"
