Diary of Recruitment Fairs 2007-8
Annual Recruitment Event for Teachers

Every January, we hold a major recruitment event, showcasing Hertfordshire as a great place to work for teachers and support staff in our schools.

This year nearly 700 people came to find out more about teaching in our schools - our most successful ever! We are now planning next year's event and the date has been set for Thursday 4th January 2007.

More details will be available nearer to the time!

This is an interesting day of talks about issues related to teaching in Hertfordshire, information about routes into teaching and an opportunity to meet up with members of the Local Education Authority and representatives from our Schools.

Please put the date in your diary for next year!
There is a packed programme of talks throughout the afternoon, covering such issues as What It's like to be an NQT in Herts, Behaviour Management, Teaching in a Primary, Secondary and Special Schools, Applying for a Job, Routes into teaching.

Who will it appeal to?

Student teachers in their final year of study
Returner Teachers
Supply Teachers
Experienced Teachers looking for their next career move in Herts
Support staff, particularly Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants
Career Changers who are interested in Teaching as a new profession
Students considering which career to choose.

Recruitment Fairs - National and Local

The School Workforce Development Team represents Hertfordshire as a county and teaching in general at Recruitment Fairs. We attend approximately 20 University Recruitment Fairs at ITTs throughout the UK, and talk to student and trainee teachers about opportunities in Herts schools and the NQT induction programme (which has an excellent reputation throughout the country).

In addition to this, we also attend more general careers fairs to talk to the general public about careers in schools and help to organise our own Hertfordshire Schools recruitment fairs in locations around the county where there may be recruitment problems.

Local Recruitment Fairs

In the past, we have organised local fairs in Cheshunt, Borehamwood, Stevenage, South Oxhey and Watford, working with local schools and consortia to raise awareness of the opportunities for teaching and support staff in our schools.

If you think that a coordinated approach to recruitment with your neighbours would be useful, please contact us for more information.
