Dreamweaver Software for Schools

The majority of schools in Hertfordshire are using the software Dreamweaver to develop and maintain their schools website. This software is heavily supported by the HGfL web team by means of courses, school visits and help and support.

How to obtain a copy of Dreamweaver

The latest version of Macromedia Dreamweaver can be obtained through Hertfordshire Supplies. Visit the Hertfordshire Supplies web site at:

Using Dreamweaver to incorporate pupil's work into the school web site

In most cases we would not recommend that pupils spend time learning to use Dreamweaver in order to contribute to the school website. Many software packages such as TextEase, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, HotDog Junior, ColourMagic, etc. can save files in a format suitable for use on the school's web site (HTML, GIF, JPEG) and we recommend that you use Dreamweaver to manage the web-compatible files which these programs generate.

Dreamweaver Help and Support

If you need support or help on using the software, use the built-in Help and Tutorials (from the Help menu within Dreamweaver). Other information is available at:

Subsidised Dreamweaver INSET Courses

The HGfL web team run subsidised INSET courses to help schools get started with Dreamweaver and their web sites. Full details with an application form can be obtained from the ICT section of the Training & CPD Courses listings now available online.
