Review of educational provision in Hertfordshire for children and young people on the autism spectrum Dr Glenys Jones, June 2015

Improving provision for autism is one of the key workstreams in the new SEND Strategy and so there will be a lot of work to take forward the recommendations from this report over the next year or two. The recommendations cover:

  • What all schools offer and how we can improve this so there is less variability (essentially school effectiveness)
  • How external support operates effectively and in a co-ordinated, targeted way to prevent placement breakdowns
  • Responses/models of support for cyp who require something alternative either temporarily or longer term
