Special Educational Needs Code of Practice

Special educational needs code of practice

The guidance which schools ‘must have regard to’ helps them to carry out and understand their duties in enabling pupils with special educational needs to reach their full potential, to be included fully in their school communities and to make a successful transition to adulthood.

A SEN Toolkit, which is non-statutory, provides additional information on SEN issues and suggests different kinds of action that schools might take to support children with SEN.

To order a copy of the SEN Code of Practice, DfES 581/2001 telephone 0845 6022260 or email dfes@prolog.uk.com, quoting the DfES reference number above.

Removing Barriers to Achievement

Removing barriers to achievement

This document presents the government’s vision for the education of children with special education needs and disabilities. It reinforces the commitment made in the Green Paper ‘Every Child Matters’ (2003) to early intervention, inclusion, the raising of expectations and achievement, and the development of partnership networks. It contains a definition of personalized learning.
