Provision Mapping
Provision maps show the range of provision available for pupils with additional needs within a particular school. Developing a provision map will involve all staff. Provision maps allow the school to audit the needs of pupils within the school and to plan systematically how best to use the school's resources to meet those needs. Provision mapping supports the strategic management of inclusion.
The SEN Advisory Team has developed a provision mapping cycle to help schools link the provision mapping process with whole school systems already in place such as self evaluation, the tracking of pupil progress. The overview cycle shows the different aspects of the provision mapping process (see diagram below). This cycle has then been annotated to provide schools with further guidance on what to use, when to carry out actions and how to go about this process.
