FREE Event: The New KS5 Advanced Level Specifications

The new KS5 Advanced level specifications, what’s changed?

  • Venue: Science Learning Centre East of England

New specifications are available for first teaching in September 2008. This one-day conference will provide an overview of the 14-19 reforms and then focus on the changes to the specifications for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Science in Society. In the afternoon, participants will attend subject specific workshops with experts from each main awarding body. We will have representatives from QCA and the main awarding bodies.

What to expect from the day
  • build an overview of the structure of the new specifications
  • analyse new versus old specification content
  • look at the implications of coursework and stretch and challenge
  • discuss the support and resources that will be available
  • talk directly to representatives from QCA and the main awarding bodies
  • explore materials from publishers

  • 10.30 - 11.15 QCA: An overview to the changes to the 14-19 curriculum Rebecca Edwards (QCA)
  • 11.15 –11.30 Coffee
  • 11.30 -1.00 Subject specific awarding body workshops
    Delegates work within their subject specialism and have a chance to hear what’s new from each of the awarding bodies
  • 1.00 – 2.00 Lunch and Awarding body and publisher stands.
  • 2.00 - 4.15 Subject specific workshops which explore aspects of How Science Works within the new curricula.
