Persona Dolls

persona dollsA resource for PSHCE and SEAL in Primary Schools and for PSED in Early Years Settings

These are a MECS Resource for loan to teachers and practitioners. Six Persona Dolls of different ethnicities are available for short term loan to schools. For two of the Dolls (of Pakistani and Polish origin) detailed Personas and accompanying materials have been developed.

British Red Cross Primary online Resources new

Life. Live it.Life. Live it. is a brand new free first aid teaching resource for all primary school teachers, tailor-made for teaching first aid and safety skills to children aged 5 to 11.

This online teaching package is part of the British Red Cross Life. Live it. programme to build a generation of life-savers. The easy-to-use resource is accessible online from the Red Cross website.

Both great fun and highly interactive, Life. Live it. First aid education for children is also directly relevant to PSHE, Citizenship, English, Science and Art & Design – with curriculum links included in the Teachers’ area of the resource.

The main themes are staying safe, saving lives, and emergency action with the emphasis on learning first aid through a variety of approaches: video, interactive activities, discussion, quizzes, drama, practical activities, drawing and more.

Differentiated materials mean that children aged 5 -7 will be able to gain an understanding of treating burns and nose bleeds, in addition to keeping safe and getting help.  Whilst the materials and lessons for age 7 – 11 are much more extensive, covering a range of first aid topics.
