Publications, Materials & LinksPSHE & Citizenship updated
Ugly Bugs & Apple Trees ISBN 1 84003 899 3 and Cooks & Ogres ISBN 1 84417 0810 are two titles in the admired series for Assemblies that Kevin Mayhew has published. Written by CSF’s Primary English Adviser, Michael Catchpool and Pat Lunt they provide highly well liked collections of stories for assemblies telling tales of kings and farmers, brothers and neighbours and many more. The stories all have messages but are told with a very light tough and are often poignant and always thought provoking. The theme is explored in general terms as well as with a Christian emphasis so that teachers can adapt them for their own situation. They are also valuable for PSHE lessons as the stories and suggested questions prompt discussions. I am, I know, I can, the PSHE primary teacher resource from TACADE published about two years ago is well viewed by teachers particularly as the activities are so manageable. TACADE is producing a new pack on PSE in the Foundation Stage in the summer term and it is expected to be of as high quality as its other publications – again look out for it. The popular Nelson Thornes Primary School series, Real Health for Real Lives, written by Noreen Wetton and Adrian King has been updated. It continues to provide good quality lesson plans and resources and in particular in its coverage of the more sensitive issues. Schemes of Work ResourcesResource list - linked KS1:
