The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year old UK school pupils. These range from popular "mass" Maths Challenges to team competitions, forums for teachers and the selection and training of the UK team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
The Department for Education and Skills published a document 'Mathematical Challenges for Able Pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2 in 2000.
Many able pupils will progress more quickly through these programmes and will need extension and enrichment activities in mathematics. This book addresses class organisation, planning and teaching through answers to commonly asked questions.
