Competitions to Enter

The following is a list of competitions for schools to enter:

The Mathematical Association

Annually, schools are sent details (A5 booklet) about the Primary Maths Challenge (PMC). The PMC is intended for the top 60% of Y5 and Y6 pupils. It is a test with multiple choice problems which aim to interest pupils and be mathematical. Pupils can take the challenge at any time during November 2001. United Kingdom Mathematical Trust

The UKMT organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for 11-18 year old UK school pupils. These range from popular "mass" Maths Challenges to team competitions, forums for teachers and the selection and training of the UK team for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). 

Mathematical Challenges for Able Pupils

The Department for Education and Skills published a document 'Mathematical Challenges for Able Pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2 in 2000.

Many able pupils will progress more quickly through these programmes and will need extension and enrichment activities in mathematics. This book addresses class organisation, planning and teaching through answers to commonly asked questions.
