Using Whole Class Teaching Technologies Safely
Recently concerns have been raised about the use of whiteboards and data projectors in schools. This sheet is designed to give you some guidance on the safe use of whole class teaching technologies (WCTT) in the classroom.

This document should be displayed at the side of each IWB installation:

IWB/Projector Warranty

Enterprise MPC

Enterprise MPC is the contractor chosen by HCC to supply interactive whiteboards (IWBs) to our schools under the nationally funded IWB Project (2005/06) and the more recent Additional ICT Funding Grant 121a.  The company has now completed all installations but is still responsible for warranty repairs (including free projector bulb replacement) for a period of three years from the date of installation.

Last year Enterprise MPC changed its name to Enterprise Managed Services and relocated to an office in Harrow. Shortly after that, Enterprise plc (the parent company) decided to close this office and all the staff were made redundant. For a short period of time Hertfordshire schools lost access to the Enterprise Helpdesk.

In January 2008 another IWB supplier, Smarter Interactive Ltd, wrote to schools, without our knowledge, stating incorrectly that Enterprise had gone into receivership. We believe that, following our objection, that company has recently sent another letter retracting this statement.

Enterprise has now made it clear how they intend to honour the commitments in their contract with us in relation to warranty work.  They have subcontracted this warranty work to Cymar Computer Ltd.

We are sorry for the confusion that has been caused in recent months but the essential points for schools to understand are:

  1. Enterprise plc remains responsible for all warranty work on IWBs which have been installed by that company under either of the two projects mentioned above.
  2. They have changed the arrangements for actually delivering that service by subcontracting to Cymar Computer Ltd.  It will be Cymar staff who will attend schools to undertake any warranty work.
  3. HCC does not have a contract with Cymar and as such we cannot officially recommend them for any new IWB installations or other ICT services.
  4. To arrange for warranty work to be undertaken schools should continue to call the Enterprise Helpdesk Tel: 0845 241 1892
