JANET Video Conferencing Service (JVCS)Introduction The majority of these establishments use JVCS to make the connection between themselves and the school. Therefore, if you have video conferencing equipment and want to access these services, you will need to register with JVCS. It is free to register with JVCS, though the organisation you are connecting with may charge for the service they are offering. A number of Hertfordshire schools have registered with and use this service. What do I need to be able to register with JVCS?You will need to have H323 (or ISDN) video conferencing set up in your school, and in the case of H323, your endpoint will need an E164 number and be registered with the Hertfordshire Gatekeeper. For information about this, please read this page: The JVCS service is not designed for web-based video-conferencing services such as Flashmeeting or Elluminate V-Room. How do I register with JVCS?Simply go to the JANET Video Conferencing homepage below and click on the Register button. You will need the details of your endpoint to hand (eg your E164 number.) This site also offers lots of useful information about video conferencing. Please leave enough time before your planned video conference to register with JVCS, as they will seek registration approval from Hertfordshire County Council, and this may take a few days.
