- Lame MP3 Encoder
If you are using Audacity to create MP3 files you will need an MP3 encoder such as LAME to be able to encode higher quality files.
- Levelator
Use to ‘master’ a podcast recording or other PC based sound recording. This program adjusts the overall sound levels to ‘level’ the peaks and troughs.

Video Conferencing
Flashmeeting (E2BN)
Use a webcam and your PC to video-conference for free using E2BN’s Flashmeeting. This is a web-based conferencing tool that also allows you to text-chat, vote, use emoticons and send URLs.
- Polycom PVX Demo
This is the demo version of Polycom’s PVX video-conferencing software. This demo version limits calls to 5 minutes.

Adventure Maker new
This is a freeware program that allows you to create graphical point-and-click adventure games. You can import your own photos to make virtual tours, learning games, interactive presentations etc.

A painting and drawing program that is really simple and fun to use.
- Irfanview
An image viewer that allows you to crop, resize, rotate and add effects to your digital photos. Also has a thumbnail viewer and can create html thumbnail pages to display digital images on your website.
Kerpoof new
This online tool allows learners to create pictures, animations, cards and graphical stories. It is free to use the basic tools, and the creations can be saved online. This site does feature “Safe Chat” but this isn’t available in the free tools. Do consider eSafety if you want to use the sharing facility.
- Microsoft Photo Story 3
Take digital photos, add sounds, music and text, stick them all together and create a digital story. An excellent cross-curricular resource.
- MWSnap
This Snaps a screenshots straight into the clipboard. This is an excellent way to create images for web sites as you can snap a screenshot at a chosen size. Also good for creating user guide documentation. Also does lots of other things and what The Lens (below) does but isn't as nice looking...
Paint.net
Designed to be familiar to those who know Windows Paint, this is a free powerful image editor which supports layers, effects and other tools.
- Powerbullet Presenter new
This is a freeware program for creating multimedia Flash presentations, which can include graphics, text and sound. The results can be used as a standalone presentation or as part of a webpage.
Sprout new
Sprout is an online tool for creating Flash applets (widgets), which can be embedded into a webpage, blog etc.
It’s very simple to use for creating banners, mini-sites, slideshows etc.
- Stick Figure Animator
This is a great little program that allows the user to animate a stick man. It is a really good way of teaching the concepts of animation.

This is a program to magnify part of the screen - a magnifying glass to be precise. It's 'skinnable' - which means there are different colours and styles for the magnifying glass that you can download if you don't like brown and beige... you can use the plus and minus on the glass to zoom in and out...
